SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Joe Ducey, the son of Governor Doug Ducey, has been arrested for using a fake ID at a Scottsdale nightclub, according to court paperwork.

Police say Joe Ducey, who is 19, was at the Boondocks Patio & Grill near Scottsdale and Camelback roads on December 16 around 1 a.m. when he was arrested for using a fake ID to enter the bar.

According to police records, a Scottsdale officer was on bicycle patrol in the area when he witnesses a man jump a fence to enter the bar so he would not have to show his ID.

While searching inside for that person, security contacted Joe Ducey, who had used a fake ID to enter the bar. The security guard took him to the officer outside.

Police confirmed Joe Ducey was not the person wanted for jumping the wall, but he was cited for using a false ID to enter a liquor establishment.

The misdemeanor means Joe Ducey could face up to a $2,500 fine, six months in jail or a six month suspension of his driver's license.

The arresting officer reported that he smelled an odor of intoxication on Ducey, but he did not appear to be “extremely intoxicated,” and wrote that he was "apologetic."

A Boondock's employee told ABC15 the bar confiscated roughly ten fake ID's the night that Governor Ducey's son was arrested.

Governor Doug Ducey released the following statement about the arrest:

"He's going to face the same legal and family consequences as any other 19-year old in this circumstance would, and we will handle this the same way any other Arizona family would. Thank you for respecting our privacy."
